Financial Information
All students entering the BMCB Graduate Program will be supported
through a variety of sources, including the BMCB NIH training grant
and funds from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics
and the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Another fellowship
that offers support is the Biology, Mathematics and Physics Initiative.

Another source of funds for incoming students interested in geonomics
is the Graduate Fellowship
in Genomics. In addition to applying for the BMCB program, an additional
one-page statement describing research interests in genomics must be
submitted separately to Dr.
Michael Nachman.
The current stipend (2008-2009) for BMCB students is $23,063, plus additional
funds to pay registration fees. Out-of-state tuition is waived, and
single coverage health insurance is provided. After the first year,
students are typically supported by their dissertation advisor, although
other fellowship funds are also available.
Prospective
students should factor in cost of living in the city they will attend
graduate school. Tucson, Arizona, is a relatively inexpensive place
to live when compared to other major cities. The link below is to
a cost of living calculator and may assist you in comparing Tucson
with other major cities.
