Financial Information

    All students entering the BMCB Graduate Program will be supported through a variety of sources, including the BMCB NIH training grant and funds from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Another fellowship that offers support is the Biology, Mathematics and Physics Initiative. To get more information about this fellowhship, please go to http://w3.arizona.edu/~bmpi/. Another source of funds for incoming students interested in geonomics is the Graduate Fellowship in Genomics. In addition to applying for the BMCB program, an additional one-page statement describing research interests in genomics must be submitted separately to Dr. Michael Nachman.

    SedonaThe current stipend (2008-2009) for BMCB students is $23,063, plus additional funds to pay registration fees. Out-of-state tuition is waived, and single coverage health insurance is provided. After the first year, students are typically supported by their dissertation advisor, although other fellowship funds are also available.

    Prospective students should factor in cost of living in the city they will attend graduate school. Tucson, Arizona, is a relatively inexpensive place to live when compared to other major cities.
