Laboratory Rotations

All students in the BMCB Graduate Program complete four laboratory rotations of 7 weeks in any participating faculty lab. Students choose and schedule their rotations after becoming familiar with the faculty research interests. The rotations serve two purposes. First, they expose the student to a variety of research areas and methods. Second, they allow students to sample labs as a prelude to choosing a dissertation advisor. To foster student-faculty interaction and develop presentation skills, a research symposium is held after each 7-week rotation period. The first-year students each give presentations describing their rotation.
