The University of Arizona

Program Overview

The goal of the BMCB Graduate Program is to train students with backgrounds in the biological sciences for careers as professional scientists. This will be done by combining a thorough foundation in the principles of biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology as part of a challenging first-year core curriculum, along with the opportunity to pursue independent laboratory research in any one of over 65 laboratories. Students entering the BMCB Graduate Program will rotate through four laboratories in the first year and then choose a dissertation advisor. The BMCBSan Pedro Graduate Program encourages students to broaden their perspectives by taking advanced level elective courses and to enhance their communication skills by full participation in faculty/student symposia, the research retreat, and through involvement in innovative teaching opportunities.
