Research Topic:
ALS is a genetically heterogenous neurodegenerative disease resulting in the progressive death of motor neurons. A unifying pathological feature, regardless of genetic background, is the formation of cytoplasmic inclusions containing the RNA binding protein TDP-43 and mRNA. My research focuses on the translational alterations, both compensatory and neurotoxic, that result from TDP-43 complex formation.
